Therapy for Anxiety in New York and New Jersey

Therapy for Anxiety, Stress, and Related Concerns

From a former attorney who practiced law for twenty years — offering psychotherapy for professionals in New York and New Jersey navigating anxiety, stress, and the pressures of demanding lives.

Living and working in New York and New Jersey can be energizing, but also demanding and overwhelming.

When anxiety is part of the picture, that pressure can become harder to manage. Anxiety is not only an emotional experience — it affects the body, shapes how you think, and influences how you respond to the people and situations around you.

For many people, anxiety is closely tied to ongoing work-related stress, which is explored further on the Work Stress page.

Therapy for Anxiety

Our work focuses on understanding how you are approaching things — and developing more flexibility in how you respond.

Working with anxiety often unfolds on several levels. In the immediate term, we focus on what is happening when anxiety spikes — learning to recognize it, interrupt it, and respond more effectively in the moment.

Beyond the moment, we work to understand the patterns that sustain anxiety: the thoughts, assumptions, and stories you may have about yourself or certain situations that fuel it, often without your awareness. Becoming curious about your anxiety — rather than simply avoiding or fearing it — is often where the most useful work happens.

At a deeper level, we may also explore how earlier experiences may have shaped the way you respond to pressure and uncertainty today. Understanding where certain patterns come from can make it considerably easier to change them.

Areas We May Focus On

  • Generalized anxiety and persistent worry
  • Social anxiety
  • Panic attacks
  • Post-traumatic stress
  • OCD-related patterns and intrusive thoughts
  • Work-related pressure and burnout
  • Difficulty relaxing or sleeping
